GIRLS BASKETBALL Gillett 43 Niagara 34 Gillett Secondary School (5-3, 4-1 Marinette & Oconto Conference) staged a second-half rally to capture a conference victory Friday. The Tigers entered halftime down 21-15 at Niagara, but rallied for 18 points in the third and 10 in the fourth. Gillett’s Taylor Kohls scored a game-high 17 points and Erin Balthazor chipped in nine points. Brooklyn Wolosyn was the leading scorer for Niagara (6-2, 4-2 M&O) with seven points. Suring 50 St. Thomas Aquinas 15 Greta Sleeter scored a game-high 10 points in the Eagles’ Marinette & Oconto Conference win at St. Thomas Aquinas Academy on Friday. Suring (3-5, 3-3 ) led 30-4 at halftime. Katie Stegeman added eight points and Az VanBellinger scored seven for Suring. St. Thomas Aquinas (2-5, 0-5 M&O) remains winless in conference play. WRESTLING Coleman 36 Oconto Falls 31 Oconto Falls won six of 14 matches at Coleman on Friday. Dewey Krueger (160) was one of four Panthers to win on falls. He defeated Josh Pillath at 1 minute, 43 seconds. Also posting falls for Oconto Falls were Bryce Peterson (106), over Devin Schulte at 4 minutes, 56 seconds; Evan Konitzer (113) over Derick Teteak at 2:56; and Sam Konitzer (132), over Lonnie Basinski at 2:33. Also for Oconto Falls, Noah Starry (126) won a 10-3 decision over Conner Kasal, and Mac Winkler (182) posted a 10-1 major decision over Gunnar Patz. Oconto 59 Gillett/Suring 21 Gillett/Suring managed four wins against visiting Oconto on Friday. Brett Milhans (170) pinned Seth Reed at 1:27, Brodin Bennin (182) pinned Mason Camos at 1:35, Alex Zeitler (152) defeated Hunter Michalek, 6-4, and Preston Fischer (120) won by forfeit.
