Senior Creo VanBellinger rushed for 200 yards on 16 carries in Friday’s 30-14 victory as Suring picked up its first win of the season.
With the Eagles (1-2, 1-0 Marinette & Oconto Conference) behind 6-0 in the second quarter, sophomore quarterback John Christensen connected with VanBellinger on a 9-yard scoring strike. Van Bellinger later exploded for a 95-yard touchdown run to tie the game entering halftime. Josh Vollmar, who finished with 101 yards on 13 carries, had an 11-yard touchdown run in the third quarter to give the Eagles the lead. Van Bellinger added another touchdown run of 80 yards in the fourth quarter.
The Suring defense allowed two 1-yard touchdown runs in the first half but held Florence (0-2, 0-1 Northern Lakes Conference) scoreless in the second half.
Christensen completed seven passes for 102 yards and four rushes for 27 yards. Junior Mark Runge was the Eagles’ leading receiver with three catches for 41 yards.

The 2013 regional champion Eagles bounced back from a 0-2 deficit to win three straight games (25-21, 25-20, 16-14) against Marinette & Oconto Conference rival Coleman (0-3, 0-3 M&O) on Thursday.
Makenzi LaMarre led Suring (3-4, 3-0 M&O) with 34 digs. Brooke Gauthier produced 13 spikes, led the team in service aces with six and tied Az VanBellinger for second-most digs with 17. Courtney Heimeral recorded a team-high 13 assists, plus eight digs, one kill and a service ace. Hailey Thompson led Suring with 13 blocks and also recorded six kills and four digs.
