Wittenberg-Birnamwood swept Shiocton, 25-14, 25-17, 25-17, to get its first Central Wisconsin Conference-8 win of the season Thursday.
“We played well as a team, and it’s nice to get a conference win under our belt,” Wittenberg-Birnamwood coach Chris Nier said.
Hannah Buntrock had eight kills to lead the Chargers (3-4, 1-1 CWC-8). Taylor Nier had six kills and Danica Wendler had five. Madison Bushman had 23 assists.
In junior varsity action, Wittenberg-Birnamwood beat Shiocton 3-0 (26-24, 25-18, 25-20).

Menominee Indian battled back from a 25-17 loss in the first set to win the next two 25-11, 25-22, but lost the final two games, 25-16, 15-8, in Central Wisconsin Conference-10 play Thursday.
Leah Schlichting had 28 assists to lead the Eagles (1-2, 1-2 CWC-10). Sasha Peters had 10 kills. Taylor Mahkimetas had eight kills.
“Menominee put up a great fight and at the end Almond had the better game,” Menominee Indian coach Colette White said. Taylor Mahkimetas with six kills and great hustle on the court tonight.”

Gresham 0
Gresham got swept by Tri-County (2-1, 2-0 CWC-10), 25-21, 25-19, 25-10, Thursday in Gresham.
Nicole Creapaeu led the Wildcats (1-2, 0-2) with eight kills. Tatelyn Ferguson had seven service points. Nande Carroll had 12 assists.
