Hawks hockey team beats Oshkosh, falls to Manitowoc United

Dec. 7 Manitowoc United 5, Shawano/Bonduel 1 Gavin Hundt scored a short-handed goal early in the third period to bring Shawano/Bonduel to a one-goal deficit to Manitowoc United, but the hosts then scored three unanswered goals to earn the 5-1 win. Both teams had 24 shots on goal. Kaiden Thornborrow was in the net for Shawano/Bonduel and had 19 saves. Each team was penalized six times for 12 minutes. Dec. 5 Shawano/Bonduel 4, Oshkosh 2 In a penalty-laden game that saw a player from each team ejected in the first period, Shawano/Bonduel finished on top of Oshkosh 4-2. Shawano/Bonduel’s Michael Dillenburg was ejected after grabbing an opponents’s facemask, and Oshkosh’s Jason Schmid was ejected after head contact. In the same melee, Shawano/Bonduel’s Waylon Snider was called for roughing. Prior to the ejections, the teams had already been called for four penalties each in the period. By the end of the game, the Hawks were called for 12 infractions for 35 minutes, while the visiting Ice Hawks were penalized 10 times for 31 minutes. Oshkosh led 1-0 after the first period. Shawano/Bonduel tied the game 1-1 on a Max Huntington goal at 15:41 in the second period. Cameron Schroeder had the assist. Oshkosh went back on top 2-1 in the third period. Shawano/Bonduel responded with three goals to earn the win. Blake Swedberg scored at 10:32 with an assist from Quinten Harkey. Kielian Armbruster scored at 16:01 with help from Schroeder.
