Hawks fall short against New London

Sept. 9 New London 4, Shawano 3 Shawano’s tennis team lost a closely contested match to New London at home. The Hawks fought back to force three tiebreakers but fell short in the end, losing 4-3. Winning for the Hawks were Rachel Carroll at No. 2 singles 6-3, 6-0; Jaelyn Hietpas at No. 3 singles 6-0, 6-1; and Ava Hoffman at No. 4 singles 6-2, 6-1. In one of the tiebreakers, No. 1 singles player Ireland Setterman lost 6-4, 0-6, 7-10. The No. 2 doubles team of Claire Weiland and Olivia Dobratz lost 6-3, 7-6 (4), and the No. 3 duo of Lana Owens and Madison Miller came up short 6-4, 4-6, 10-4. Hadley Rettke and Laney Rich lost 6-1, 6-4 at No. 1 doubles. The Hawks’ overall record stands at 2-12.
