Wittenberg-Birnamwood’s 66-31 win over Manawa was a special night for Melaina Granquist.
Not only did the high school junior lead her team with 28 points and 13 rebounds, she also hit the 1,000-point mark in scoring.
Rory Salvesen added another 15 points for the Chargers. She also led the team with six assists and seven steals.
“We had a great first half tonight jumping out 20-0,” coach Nick Mechelke said. “The girls played exceptional defense tonight.”
The Chargers improved to 7-0 in the Central Wisconsin East Conference and 13-0 overall.
Shawano 46, Xavier 44
Shawano pulled out a tough victory over Xavier 46-44.
In the back-and-forth game, Ella Stuber hit two 3-pointers in the second half to give Shawano the lead for good.
Shawano improved to 5-1 in the Bay Conference and 12-3 overall.
Gresham 51, Marion/Tigerton 47
Gresham improved to 4-0 in the Central Wisconsin North Conference with its 51-47 win over Marion/Tigerton.
Marion/Tigerton dropped to 2-2.
Lena 60, St. Thomas Aquinas Academy 26
Lena didn’t let St. Thomas Aquinas Academy score in double digits until the second half as the Wildcats won 60-26 in the Marinette & Oconto Conference matchup.
Lena maintained its hold on first place at 8-1 (12-2 overall).
Kali Fisher led the Wildcats with 15 points Hannah Thomson scored 12, and Madilyn Thomson added 11.
Madilyn Thomson led the team with nine rebounds and six assists, while Eva Brooks pulled down eight boards and had five assists. Fischer led with three steals.
De Pere 73, Pulaski 43
Ashley Servais led the Red Raiders with 13 points and Olivia Sprangers added 11, but Pulaski pulled up short, losing 73-43 to De Pere.
It was De Pere in charge pretty much from the start, taking a 38-19 lead at halftime.
Pulaski dropped to 2-7 in the Fox River Classic Conference and 4-10 overall.
