Vicki Engebretsen has been hired as the Gillett deputy clerk/deputy treasurer to fill a vacancy caused by the retirement of Leone Christensen.
The Gillett City Council on Thursday approved the hire of Engebretsen, of rural Gillett, effective July 6. She is a lifelong resident of the Gillett area and is employed as a receptionist at Green Apple Eye Care in Green Bay.
“Her friendly and enthusiastic personality and previous job skills make her an excellent choice for this position,” said Alderperson Debbie Erickson, chair of the finance and personnel committee.
Four candidates were interviewed for the opportunity to replace Christensen, who has 25 years of experience, as clerk/treasurer and deputy clerk/deputy treasurer.
Engebretsen will work 20 to 25 hours a week, at a starting wage of $12.50 an hour. If she completes a six-month probationary period satisfactorily, her wage will increase to $13 an hour.
The council also voted to raise the wage of the full-time clerk/treasurer, Beth Rank, from $16.50 to $18.50 an hour, effective July 1. The committee determined Rank’s wages were below that of clerks with comparable experience in similarly sized municipalities.
In addition, the municipal clerk duties previously performed by Christensen have been transferred to Rank.
