The Gillett School District will continue to purchase hours of technology support through the Cooperative Educational Service Agency, or CESA, for the remainder of the school year.
In the fall, the district purchased 200 hours of high level technical support from CESA on a trial basis and has used up almost all of the time.
CESA purchases a large number of technical support hours from Eclipse Networking LLC, based in Neenah. The district then purchases smaller amounts at a reduced cost to specifically meet its needs. Eclipse takes care of problems with servers, changes in routers and other hardware issues.
Superintendent Todd Carlson said the district receives a better rate by contracting with CESA rather than directly with Eclipse.
The School Board on Thursday approved the purchase of an additional 200 hours at $67 per hour, for $13,400. Funds are already in the budget.
“We’re really happy with the support we’ve received,” board Vice President James Karls said.
