Gerald Lee “Jerry” Schweigert, 72, of Marble Hill, Missouri, passed away Feb. 22, 2015, following a lengthy illness, at Woodland Hills Nursing Center in Marble Hill. Born in Villa Park, Illinois, on Oct. 1, 1942, he was the son of Lee William and Vera Josephine Tonkin Schweigert.
Jerry spent his childhood years from age 4 through 14 on his parents’ farm in the Bonduel area. The family then moved to Hoffman Estates, Illinois. He graduated from Palatine High School, and Jerry farmed, managed a horse farm and was a self-employed landscaper there. He moved to Missouri to be near his eldest son as his health declined.
He is survived by three children: a daughter, Jody Kidd, of Linden, Tennessee; and two sons, Jeff Schweigert, of Marble Hill, and Steve Schweigert, of Las Vegas, Nevada; two brothers, Ronald Schweigert, of Sturgeon Bay, and Roger Schweigert, of Round Lake, Illinois; a sister, Barb Johnson, of Aurora, Colorado; and six grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held later in the year in Wisconsin at the ancestral family farm.
Hutchings Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill, Missouri, is handling arrangements.
