Oconto County Public Health will hold walk-in flu clinics from 9-10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 7 and Oct. 28, in the first-floor jury room at the Oconto County Courthouse, Building C.
Individuals who are unable to attend may call Public Health at 920-834-7000 to make an appointment for a vaccine at one of the regularly scheduled immunization clinics in Mountain, Oconto or Oconto Falls.
The flu shot costs $25 for adults with no insurance or private insurance. OCPH will provide a receipt to use for reimbursement from insurance carriers. Individuals covered by Medicare and Medicaid receive a free flu shot and are asked to bring their Medicare or Medicaid cards to the flu clinics.
Students in Oconto County schools are eligible for a free flu vaccine, regardless of insurance or income. OCPH will vaccinate children from early childhood to 12th grade at their schools. Flu mist and flu shots are available for students up to eighth grade.
Students at Oconto High School may also receive the mist, available as a pilot program this fall. High school students at other schools will receive flu shots only. The free flu vaccine for students is available only at their schools as part of a Public Health Preparedness activity.
Parents should have received a consent form from their school district for the free flu vaccine. Forms are also available at www.ocph.info, click on Influenza, then free flu vaccines at schools.
Children receiving a flu shot or mist outside of the school clinic will receive a free vaccine if they have no insurance, have insurance that does not cover the flu vaccine, have insurance that has a monetary cap on vaccinations and the family has met that cap, have medical assistance/Badger Care, or are Native Americans or Alaskan natives. For all other children, ages 3-18, the vaccine costs $25.
No vaccine is available for children 6 months to 2 years old.
