After nearly half a century in its current home, Elderon Memorial VFW Post 8068 is looking for a new location.
The clubhouse is approaching its 45th anniversary after previously serving many years as an insurance agency. While it has served the VFW well, it has become difficult to keep up the maintenance, accessibility requirements and updates that are required after decades of service.
Members said a new clubhouse has become necessary; as a nonprofit veterans organization, they are soliciting funds to assist in this goal.
They have formed a committee to organize the efforts and plan to have local fundraising events to bring awareness to the building project.
VFW Post 8068 was formed Feb. 8, 1976, and the clubhouse was dedicated in September 1981.
Members honor fallen service members, place flags on graves for Memorial Day, award scholarships to high school students, provide color guards for local parades and events and support local community organizations.
To donate, make checks payable to Elderon Memorial VFW Post 8068 - Building Fund and mail to P.O. Box 94, Elderon WI 54429.
A donor thank you will be published in local newspapers and on a donors plaque that will be placed in the new building.
