Dorothy Garland-Peterson

Dorothy M. (Koepke) Garland-Peterson, 93, of Green Bay, formerly of Gillett, died Nov. 6, 2014. She was born April 9, 1921, in the town of Center to the late Leo and Meta Koepke. She married Jess Garland on April 7, 1942, and he preceded her in death in 1970. She married Victor Peterson on July 11, 1969. Victor preceded her in death in 1991. She was very eager to share her pride of her family. Dorothy loved to dance, listen to polka music, and traveling with family and friends. She spent many years as a waitress and later worked as a bartender. She was incredibly outgoing and fun-loving. Dorothy was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post No. 300 in Gillett. Dorothy is survived by her children, Victoria Gallagher, Howard, Judy (Robert) McCabe, Denmark, Keith (Debbie) Garland, Howard; stepdaughter, Patricia (Paul) Hanson, Two Rivers; grandchildren, Kellie Gallagher-Smith, Michael Gallagher, Heath Garland, Shane Garland, Chelsea Hammond, Haley Garland, Matt McCabe, Sara Maenpaa, Gretchen Duquaine, Aleshia Garland, Alex Garland, John Hanson, Kathy Scherer, Debby Hanson, Jean Zemke, Beth Carrow; 27 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Alice Koepke; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her son, Kerry Garland; son-in-law, Gary Gallagher; special friend and dancing partner, Elmer; and brothers, Leland (Leone) Koepke and Lester Koepke. Friends may call at the Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St., Green Bay, on Saturday, Nov. 15, from 9 a.m. to noon. Memorial service will take place at noon Saturday, Nov. 15, at the funeral home with Pastor John Laatsch officiating.
