Debra (Haut) Stachura, 60, Pulaski, passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 2, 2015, with her family at her side, loving and supporting her until the end. She had fought a courageous battle with cancer for almost two years.
Deb was born Feb. 28, 1955, in Shawano to Carl and Dorothy (Schultz) Haut. She attended St. James Lutheran School and was a 1973 graduate of Shawano High School. Until recently, she and a large group of her classmates met for dinner on a regular basis.
On Dec. 4, 1976, she married Tom Stachura at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano. She had been employed at the Patio Restaurant and Chalet Restaurant in Shawano before moving to Pulaski. At that time, she began her career in banking at Pulaski State Bank. After 20-plus years, she became the first branch manager of Premier Community Bank in Pulaski, along with co-workers and friends, Lauri Baranczyk and Judy Schroeder. The three of them were instrumental in the start-up of the Pulaski branch. Deb most recently worked as a consumer loan officer. She enjoyed working with people and took pride in her work.
Deb was a woman of strong Christian faith. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Pulaski. She also had a solid sense of community pride. Deb served as treasurer of the Pulaski Area Chamber of Commerce, supported the Relay for Life and volunteered at Pulaski Polka Days.
She was devoted to family and friends. This spring she was filled with joy at the birth of her first grandchild. She was also pleasantly surprised by a large 60th birthday party planned by Judy Trojan, Donna Golik and Jean Schott.
Deb loved sewing, cooking wild game, traveling, being a part of family gatherings, spending time at the cabin in Mountain, playing board games and putting together jigsaw puzzles, and, of course, snowmobiling to her favorite destinations: the Lily Clubhouse, Johnny’s Resort and the Wild Wolf Inn.
She will be deeply missed by her loving husband of 38 years, Tom; her children, Jeff (Amanda) Stachura and granddaughter, Claire Rose, Sobieski, and Laura Stachura, at home; her sisters, Shirley (Donald) Bowe, Manitowoc, Nancy (Ronald) Timm, Albert Lea, Minnesota, and Jean (Dan) Schott, Shawano; her mother-in-law, Lucille Stachura, Pulaski; Tom’s family, James (Eve) Stachura, Wally (Rosie) Stachura and Patricia (Jim) Mroczkowski, all of Pulaski, Donna (Bob) Golik, Sobieski, Marcia (John) Demerjian, Los Angeles, California, and Michael (Kathy) Stachura, Green Bay. She is also survived by an aunt, Arlene Schultz, Clintonville, several nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Dorothy Haut, and her father-in-law, Walter Stachura Sr.
Friends called at St. John Lutheran Church, 910 S. St. Augustine St., Pulaski, from 3-7 p.m. Friday with a closing prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation continued after 10 a.m. Saturday at the church. The funeral service was celebrated at 11 a.m., with Pastor Larry Yaw officiating. Burial took place in SS. Edward and Isidore Cemetery, Flintville.
The family would like to thank the staff of Aurora Hospital, especially the first floor nursing staff; Dr. Patel, Dr. Bosco, Dr. Vannhu; anyone who took the time to bring food or came to visit Deb during her fight; and all those who offered comfort, prayers and words of support.
