Northcentral Technical College (NTC) will relocate services offered in Wittenberg to meet community needs and support changing campus usage.
The current campus, located at 402 N. Genesee St., will be put up for sale, and NTC will relocate services to other areas of the Wittenberg community, including Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School.
“Having a presence at Wittenberg High School builds on the strong partnership we already share, and we’re grateful they are willing to host us,” said Jeannie Worden, president of NTC. “GED/HSED (grade-equivalency diploma/high school-equivalency diploma) testing is the primary service currently offered at our Wittenberg campus, and our partnership with the high school will allow us to continue providing that service to the community one evening each week.”
Other NTC services will be delivered through additional community locations, on site at local businesses, at other NTC campuses or using technology. College leaders will continue exploring long-term location partnerships as community needs evolve and space becomes available.
“The Wittenberg-Birnamwood School District is committed to our community partnership with Northcentral Technical College,” said Garrett Rogowski, Wittenberg-Birnamwood School District superintendent. “We will continue to provide an onsite location for all regionally provided NTC services throughout and until their complete transition to a newly dedicated facility here in our local community.”
Demand for on-campus classes and services at NTC’s Wittenberg campus has decreased over the years, but NTC’s commitment to the Wittenberg community has not. The college has had a long-standing presence in Wittenberg with its first campus established in 1991. For the past 35 years, NTC has served learners and businesses while expanding opportunities for K-12 school districts and students.
NTC’s presence will continue through existing community support, Chamber membership and bringing learning and support to the location it is needed rather than requiring learners to come to campus.
“Our commitment to the Wittenberg community remains strong,” said Worden. “Even as how and where we deliver services evolves, our focus continues to be on ensuring community residents, students and businesses have access to the education and training opportunities they need.”
