Chargers swim team tops Seymour

Sept. 12 Wittenberg-Birnamwood 107, Seymour 63 Wittenberg-Birnamwood won all but two events as they defeated Seymour in a dual meet. Action began with Wittenberg-Birnamwood’s Brooklyn Beran, Reese Dickman, Kelsie Davis and Olivia Bessette winning the 200-yard medley relay in 2:00.18. Teammates Addie Schmid, Chloe Hanson, Andrew Powell and Ava Filtz placed fourth in 2:31.57. In the 200-yard freestyle, it was Beran winning in 2:12.18. Claire Timm was third in 2:28.66, and Elizabeth Behnke was fourth in 2:38.04. Dickman won the 200-yard individual medley in 2:24.77. Rylee Crick placed finished third in 2:39.53, and Ava Hegewald was fifth in 2:55.37. In the 50-yard freestyle, Seymour captured first, third and fifth places. Faith Resch took second in 25.63, Bessette was fourth in 28.87, and Hanson was sixth in 33.83. Davis touched first in the 100-yard butterfly in 1:03.8. Crick was second in 1:16.04, and Powell was fifth in 1:31.22. Resch won the 100-yard freestyle in 58.37, followed by Timm in third in 1:08.1 and Schmid in fourth in 1:10.97. The 500-yard freestyle was won by Davis in 5:51.21. Bessette finished second in 6:30.14, and Behnke was fourth in 7:06.14. The 200-yard freestyle relay was won by Resch, Beran, Davis and Dickman in 1:45.85. Placing third were Hegewald, Timm, Behnke and Crick in 2:02. Beran captured the 100-yard backstroke in 1:06.09. Powell placed fifth in 1:25.26, and Schmid was sixth in 1:26.29. Dickman’s time of 1:13.91 was best in the 100-yard breaststroke. Hegewald placed third in 1:25.06, while Hanson was fourth in 1:32.98. Resch, Bessette, Crick and Hegewald won the 400-yard freestyle relay in 4:24.9. Timm, Powell, Schmid and Hanson were third in 4:56.3. Seymour won the uncontested diving event.
