The East Side Beach in Oconto Falls will be the venue for three summer concerts sponsored by the Oconto Falls Area Chamber of Commerce.
Chamber President Gail Yatso drew an enthusiastic response from the City Council on Nov. 10 for Music by the River-2016 Sunset Concert Series. Rock ‘n’ roll bands are scheduled to perform from 6-9 p.m. Friday, June 24, July 22 and Aug. 26.
“We would like to host bands such as Big Mouth, The Cougars, so a little loud, noisy, upbeat music,” Yatso said.
She said the Chamber will seek sponsors for the event and sell beer, wine, soda, and food, like sandwiches and popcorn. The event is expected to attract people from outside Oconto Falls and give city residents a source of entertainment, “so everyone’s not running off to the Greater Green Bay area,” Yatso said.
“I think it’s an excellent idea,” said City Administrator Vicki Roberts. She said previous concerts of this type drew rave reviews from those attending.
“If it takes off, Gail, can you have country western music?” asked Alderman Jay Kostreva.
