Caroline Mary High, 95, of Gresham, passed away at her home on March 12, 2015.
Caroline was born on Sept. 18, 1919, in Taftville, Connecticut, the daughter of the late Elmer and Armelia (LaLiberty) Hoeft. She was united in marriage to Casper C. High on April 20, 1939, in Milwaukee. In 1957 Casper and Caroline moved to Gresham, where Caroline worked at True’s Manufacturing. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Gresham. She taught Sunday school and was a member of the Relief Society. After her retirement, Caroline took care of individuals with disabilities. Caroline enjoyed gardening and quilting.
Caroline in survived by her children, Marilyn (Charles) Peart, of Utah, Gary (Leania) High, of Mequon, Terry (Clarence) Gueller, of Butler, Carolyn (Dan) Thurner, of Menomonee Falls, Donald (Mary) High, of Gresham, Aaron High, of Gresham, Luon (Lee) Gueller, of Utah, and Philip (Lorena) High, of Gresham. She is further survived by 41 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, two sisters, Delores Stoehr and Rose Lewendwske, and one brother, Bob (Victoria) Hoeft, as well as a very special friend, Heinz Kahmann.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Casper, on Jan. 6, 2006; her daughter, Lois Heins; one grandson, Tracy Peart; her parents; two sisters, Betty and Theresa; and four brothers, Richard, Irvin, Joseph and Oscar.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 21, 2015, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Gresham, with Patriarch Stephen Jensen officiating. Burial will be in the Roosevelt Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Swedberg Funeral Home in Gresham on Friday, March 20, 2015, from 4-8 p.m. and again Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
