Well, it looks like our nice autumn weather is over, and the cold, windy, and maybe even snow flurry weather will take its place. I guess we can’t complain, because, at least at my house, my flowers haven’t even frozen yet, perhaps nipped a bit, but not dead.
I think I have been living in a dream world, thinking this would go on forever, or at least a wee bit longer. But here I am, the garage is clean, however my bulbs are not dug. After all, they haven’t frozen yet, so why would I dig them?
I can remember spending part of more than one fall digging bulbs out of mud on a cold and rainy day. One of my granddaughters has offered to dig them for me, whenever I am ready. Right now I am hoping I will be ready before the ground freezes.
The leaf mulching has also been postponed until now. It is cold, and I will have to bundle up in order to stay warm while driving around with my John Deere mower and mulching them.
It didn’t help that last weekend I had company, spent Friday night at a Thundercatz high school football game in Tigerton and went to a 60th wedding anniversary on Saturday. The anniversary was fun, and the company was pleasant, and I keep thinking, that is what weekends are for, to spend with friends and family.
I am not sure why I always think that I can do this yard work on weekends, when weekends are busy. There is another weekend coming, however I am planning on spending Friday and Saturday out of town for a little trip.
Meanwhile, during the week I seem to be caught up on going to doctor appointments, not that there is anything wrong, but it’s the once a year things, and then follow-ups with other appointments. I also have an appointment for a dental cleaning this week. How did those six months speed by so quickly?
Then there is the exercise that I am determined to keep up on a daily basis, plus keeping a food chart. There are times when it seems like I am back in what I thought were my busy years in raising young children. But, in reality, it is just me, over-committing , and yet I seem to be enjoying every minute of the rush.
Somewhere in all of this, I am also working on revamping a speech for a speaking engagement in December. That seems so far away, but there is only about six weeks left. I keep praying for inspiration on how God wants to use me in this talk to a women’s group at a church in Wisconsin Rapids. When they first contacted me, I told them I didn’t think my talk would fit their needs. I was right, it doesn’t, which means I am rewriting it, with God’s help.
Then there is the quilt I just started for my grandson’s wedding in January. Now that it’s started, I would rather keep at it, and I will, a bit at a time.
