Juniors took home four of the six most valuable player awards presented Tuesday at Bonduel High School’s fall sports banquet.
Junior running back Hunter VanderLinden was named the most valuable player for the football team, which reached Level 2 of the WIAA Division 5 playoffs. Jacob Wudtke, a senior linebacker, was named defensive player of the year. Race McClone was named lineman of the year. Hunter Berry and Jacob Zeitler shared special teams player of the year honors. Danny Tauchen was named top utility player.
In volleyball, Jen Dowden, a junior middle hitter, was the most valuable player and a team captain. Lexi Reinke and Courtney Schmidt were also named team captains. The Coach’s Award went to Kayla Beyersdorf.
State qualifiers junior Sam Falck and senior Mallory Mews were named most valuable runners on the boys and girls cross-country teams, respectively.
Mews was also named captain of the girls team. Isaac Palmer was named captain of the boys team. Josh Schill and Austin Marcks were awarded the boys’ most improved awards. Marissa Mehlhorn and Anna Palmer were named most improved for the girls.
Junior Taylor Diemel was named the girls golf team’s most valuable player. Samantha Schaal and Danielle Lautenbach were named team captains. Elizabeth Schaal was named most improved.
For the Shawano/Bonduel swimming team, sophomore Clare Martell was named Bonduel’s most valuable swimmer. Whitney Banker was named most improved. Cloe Nolan was named a team captain. The Shawano swimmers received their awards at the SCHS banquet Tuesday night.
Meggan Ward and Kristen Brusky were named captains of the cheerleading team. Dani Welcing was most improved.
