Bears clinch conference title

Feb. 22 St. Thomas Aquinas Academy 74, Suring 54 Feb. 21 Bonduel 79, Amherst 39 Bonduel clinched the Central Wisconsin East Conference championship and improved to 13-0 in the conference with a 79-39 clubbing of Amherst. The Bears used a dominating 48-19 first half to cruise to the win. Quinn Wesenberg led Bonduel with 19 points. Sam Roberts added 13 and led the team with 17 rebounds. Cade Johnson and Ryan Westrich each scored 10 pints. Johnson offered up a team-leading five assists, and Race Anvelink had three steals. Oconto Falls 78, Clintonville 71 Oconto Falls put up a well-rounded effort in its 78-71 win over Clintonville. Jameson Beaman and Evan Yuma each scored 19 points, while JJ Pytleski contributed 14 and Chase Carriveau added another 13. Pytleski and Yuma each pulled down seven rebounds. Brady Bursa led the team by dishing out six six assists, and with two steals each were Bursa, Yuma, Emerich Skarban and Jameson Beaman. Three Lakes 69, Lena 45 Mason Spice’s 13 points led Lena on the scoreboard, but the team came up short against Three Lakes, losing 69-45. White Lake 65, Gresham 54 Thomas Kaquatosh scored 15 points and pulled down 19 rebounds, but Gresham came up short in its 65-54 loss to White Lake. Wanbli Spotted Bear Bonnett added another 13 pints for the Wildcats, and Nolan Pecore scored 10. Pecore led Gresham with four assists and two steals. Tigerton 70, Marion 23 Tigerton had little difficulty in dispatching Marion 70-23. The Tigers held a comfortable halftime lead of 37-12 and had a nearly identical 33-11 second half. Joey Zimdars led Tigerton with 16 points, as James Brady added 15, Sam Anheuser scored 13 and Caleb Dahlstrom had 10. Brady led the team with seven rebounds, and Gavin Kielblock had six. Anheuser had three assists. Pulaski 81, Green Bay Southwest 36 As if a 17-point lead at halftime wasn’t big enough, Pulaski added another 28 points to their advantage in the second half as the Red Raiders trounced Green Bay Southwest 81-36. Colin Schultz led Pulaski with 21 points. Also scoring in double digits were Joseph Mijal with 13, Ethan Schmidt with 12 and Bryce Wotruba with 10. Schultz, Schmidt and Benjamin Barry each had five rebounds. Wotruba led with six assists, and Wotruba and Mijal each had two steals. Shawano 57, Green Bay East 50 Logan Simple’s 29 points paced the Hawks in their 57-50 win at Green Bay East. Will Verkuilen scored 12, and Anderson Schmidt added another 11 for Shawano. Iola-Scandinavia 55, Wittenberg-Birnamwood 48 The Chargers dropped into a tie for second place in the Central Wisconsin East Conference after losing 55-48 to Iola-Scandinavia. Both teams are 10-3, behind Bonduel’s 13-0 first-place record. Port Edwards 88, Bowler 43 Weyauwega-Fremont 62, Menominee Nation 60 Feb. 20 Coleman 70, Gillett 68 Jesse DeBauch 42 points and a strong second half wasn’t enough for Gillett as the Tigers fell to Coleman 70-68. Wausaukee 62, Lena 56 Mason Spice scored 25 points for Lena as the Wildcats lost 62-56 to Wausaukee.
