Arthur H. Piehl

Arthur H. “Art” Piehl, 71, passed away early Wednesday morning, May 28, 2014, at his home on the day of his favorite food holiday, National Hamburger Day. Art was born on Jan. 21, 1943, in Shawano, a son of the late Henry and Viola (Kriewaldt) Piehl. Art was baptized and confirmed at St. Martin Lutheran Church, Belle Plaine. He graduated from Shawano High School in 1961, and following high school earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls in agricultural business management. Following college, he was employed at H.G. Prange Company in Green Bay for several years in the sales department. On July 10, 1971, he was united in marriage to the former Kerry K. Knope at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano. Following their marriage the couple moved to Green Bay. The couple moved back to Shawano in 1978. Art had been employed at K & K Implement in Shawano for over 40 years as the parts manager. He retired from K & K in 2008. Art was a good and faithful member of St. James Lutheran Church. When his children were younger, he enjoyed attending all of their extracurricular activities. He was an avid Milwaukee Brewers fan and enjoyed most other sports. Art was an active member of the Shawano County Agricultural Society and also served on the Shawano County Fair Board. Art was a kind, gentle and soft-spoken man who was friendly to everyone he met. His priority was always family first. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Kerry K. Piehl, of Shawano; Aaron M. (fiancé Laura Hartman) Piehl, of Cable, Kara N. Piehl, of Green Bay, and Andrew N. Piehl, of Shawano; one brother, Roger (Sally) Piehl, of Shawano; his cousin, Charlie (Cleida) O’Brien, of Shawano; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Art Piehl will be held on Sunday, June 1, at 2:30 p.m. at St. James Lutheran Church of Shawano. Pastor Ted Andrada will officiate. Interment will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Shawano. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Sunday from 1:30 p.m. until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials to the St. James Celebration Service in the name of Art Piehl.
