Arlyn E. Gaertig

Arlyn E. Gaertig, 88, Oconto Falls, died of natural causes Wednesday, June 3, 2015, after a short stay at Sharpe Care. He was born June 13, 1926, to Rudolph and Lillian (Gohr) Gaertig. On Nov. 7, 1964, he married Beverly J. Lohf at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Algoma. Arlyn lived in the Oconto Falls area all of his life. He worked in the plywood industry for about 45 years. Following retirement, he drove school bus for the Oconto Falls School District for seven years. Arlyn was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Morgan. In his leisure time, Arlyn enjoyed listening to polka music, playing cards, and visiting with family and friends. Survivors are his wife of over 50 years, Bev Gaertig, Oconto Falls; their three children, Scott (Susan) Gaertig, Racine; Mark (Mary) Gaertig, Kenosha; Karyn (Michael) Frank, Lake Villa, Illinois; seven grandchildren, Abigail, Anna, Robert and Bethany Gaertig, Ryan, Greta and Ethan Frank; one brother, William (Marie) Gaertig, Menomonee Falls; one sister, Ruth Nass, Green Bay; two brothers-in-law, Marvin Schlorf, Oconto Falls, and Otto Delzer, Lena; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Edward and Marie (Hoffman) Lohf; one brother, Otto Gaertig; two sisters, Beatrice Schlorf and Delores Delzer; one brother-in-law, Walter Nass; and one sister-in-law, Gladys Gaertig. Visitation was held after 9 a.m. Tuesday, June 9, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Morgan until the time of service. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church with Pastor Paul Heykes officiating. Burial followed in the Town of Morgan Cemetery. Jones Funeral Service in Oconto Falls is serving the Gaertig family. The Gaertig family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Sharpe Care for its care and concern.
