Oconto Falls team, Pulaski golfer advance to sectionals

Pulaski’s golf team missed qualifying for sectionals by three strokes, but Charlie Lasecki advanced to sectional action as an individual golfer.

Bay Port, Notre Dame Academy, De Pere and Wausau West/East qualified as teams. Pulaski’s 386 was just shy of the mark to advance in Division 1 action.

Shawano’s 424 placed the Hawks in ninth among the 10 teams.

Bonduel netters come up short against Thunderbirds

Less than a year ago, the Bonduel Bears competed at the WIAA girls state volleyball tournament in Green Bay.

After finishing second behind Amherst in the Central Wisconsin Conference-East standings with a 6-1 mark, the Bears went on to win regional and sectional championships before advancing to state for the first time in program history.

Tigerton beats Bowler 3-0 on volleyball court

The Tigers competed Sept. 30 against host Bowler in a CWC North match for the second time this season.

Tigerton came out on top 3-0 with set scores of 25-15, 25-17 and 25-20.

The visitors battled back from deficits in the second and third sets.

Waupoose takes first at Oconto Invite

Menominee Nation’s Bryant Waupoose III set a new personal record at 17:00.8 when he finished first at the Oconto Invitational on Sept. 30.

Teammate Michael Peters III finished 15th in 19:37.5, a new season record for him.

Erik Kosch, of Lena/St. Thomas Aquinas Academy, placed 23rd, followed by Menominee Nation’s Cashius Reevis in 24th.

Red Raiders shut out Ships on soccer field

The Pulaski Red Raiders soccer team got its first conference win of the season with a 2-0 victory over the Manitowoc Ships on Sept. 30.

Jax Urben opened the scoring for Pulaski in the 25th minute off an assist from Walker Wozniak. Nolan Pratt added an insurance goal for the Red Raiders in the 71st minute. Josh Aranda assisted on the goal.

Pulaski tennis team defeated 6-1

Elizabeth Dornfeld, Pulaski’s No. 4 singles player, scored the only victory for the Red Raiders in a 6-1 loss to De Pere on Sept. 30.

Dornfeld defeated Soma Kadipi Reddy 6-4, 6-4.

Coming up short in their singles matches were Ruth Krause, Anna Krause and Emory Groteluschen.

Doubles losses were recorded by Linde Lemerond and Aubrie Schuessler, Ayla Groteluschen and Gretchen Rottier, and Aubrey Coel and Riley Hartman.

No homecoming upset for Hawks this year

The final regular-season home game for the Shawano football team turned out to be one for the Hawks and their fans to forget about.

The Hawks will play their home games on a brand new turf field starting next season and wrapped up their home schedule Sept. 27 with a 37-8 nonconference loss to Luxemburg-Casco.
