Three Keshena teens were taken into custody late Monday for their alleged part in a weekend vandalism spree that damaged more than 30 vehicles in Shawano. Police began getting calls in the early morning hours Sunday from residents discovering shattered windows on their vehicles. Calls continued to come in throughout the day Sunday and again on Monday.

Shawano Police Department July 8 Police logged 50 incidents, including the following: Vandalism — Police logged 23 complaints of vehicles vandalized around the city, as reports of car windows being smashed continued to come in for a second day. Sally A. Schutt, 65, of Pulaski, passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2013, in Green Bay. Born on June 12, 1948, in Shawano, she was the daughter of Myrtle (Wilke) Schutt and the late Ervin A. Schutt. Sally was a graduate of Shawano High School, Class of 1966. In 1976 she moved to Oak Creek and in 1987 to Pulaski. She was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Pulaski. Sally had a great love for all animals.

I recall years ago that model railroading fascinated me. Members of a local club in Clinton, Iowa, wanted me to attend their meetings held in the basement of a downtown building. To the editor: Kudos to Mitch Froemming, the Hartland teen working with bees on the family farm. Without bees we would have ho food from fruit to milk. No longer are there enough wild bees for pollination. This actually has been a problem for many years. We depend on bee keepers’ efforts, which have turned into a big business, for their services to farmers, orchardists, etc.

A town of Lessor woman is out nearly $4,000 after falling victim to a telephone scam this week. The 41-year-old woman was contacted by a man on Wednesday who told her that her grandson was in custody in Green Bay after a traffic accident.

“Farming is a profession of hope” — Brian Brett There is no doubt that family farms, food processors and agriculture-related businesses generate thousands of jobs and millions of dollars of economic impact throughout Shawano County. In fact, according to the Wisconsin Farm Bureau in Shawano County, farming is responsible for 4,267 jobs and accounts for $487 million in business sales.
