Two decades ago, the cookbook “A man, a can, a microwave” was a big hit.

Today, Shawano County 4-H educator Megan Suehring is using a similar idea for the foundation of a new cooking curriculum.

Michael McDermid, owner of Performance Excavating, was granted a 10-year renewal of his non-metallic mining extraction conditional use permit by the Shawano County Planning, Development and Zoning Committee on Jan. 7.

McDermid’s previous permit for non-metallic mining was renewed multiple times and was set to expire July 7.

No competitive races are lined up for three seats on the Shawano Common Council, three seats on the Shawano School Board and the Shawano mayor’s post.

Hospital Sisters Health System recently welcomed Laurie Radke as foundation director for the HSHS Wisconsin Market.

Radke served as president and CEO of the Greater Green Bay Chamber for 14 years; she announced her departure from that role in August 2025 to explore new opportunities.

Northcentral Technical College (NTC) continues to earn high marks for trust, quality and community impact, according to findings from the 2025 Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS) Perceptions Study conducted last year in May and June.
