State Sen. Eric Wimberger (R-Gillett) has been honored by the Wisconsin Counties Association with a WCA Outstanding Legislator Award for his work on behalf of county government during the 2025-26 Legislative Session.

The Nu Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, an organization of women educators, has announced that it is offering one $500 scholarship to an eligible college student who is pursuing a degree in education.

Applicants must be college or university students who have been admitted to an education program.

Play and recreation are vital to children’s well-being and development, according to an expert with ThedaCare.

“Spending time outdoors benefits kids in so many ways,” said Dr. Elizabeth Ermatinger, a pediatrician with ThedaCare Physicians Pediatrics-Appleton. “From exploring the world to encouraging physical activity to engaging in imaginative play, outside time is a win.”

Wisconsin had 4.3 days suitable for fieldwork statewide for the week ending June 21, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service.

Some cutting of hay was delayed by mid-week rains, especially in the northern portion of the state. Areas in the southeast were still hoping for more precipitation.

• Chelcia Rose Cloud, 36, Redby, Minnesota, pleaded no contest June 16 to possession of narcotic drugs and a misdemeanor charge of possession of an illegally obtained prescription. Judge William Kussel Jr. levied fines and sentenced her to 110 days in county jail, time deemed served.

• Michael A. Holtger, 34, Winnebago, was ruled not competent to stand trial and unlikely to regain competency, so Judge Jennifer Moeller dismissed two charges of battery or threat to a judge, prosecutor or law enforcement officer along with misdemeanor counts of criminal damage to property and disorderly conduct.
