Wisconsin egg production during June was 197 million eggs, down 7% from the previous June, according to the latest Chickens and Eggs report from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Agricultural Statistics Service.
The average number of all layers on hand during June was 7.7 million, down 7% from last year. Eggs per 100 layers for June was 2,563, up slightly from a year ago.
The U.S. egg production totaled 8.81 billion during June, down 2% from last year. Production included 7.56 billion table eggs, and 1.25 billion hatching eggs, of which 1.15 billion were broiler-type and 96.7 million were egg-type. The average number of layers during June totaled 371 million, down 3% from last year. June egg production per 100 layers was 2,377 eggs, up 1% from June 2023.
Total layers in the United States on July 1 totaled 370 million, down 3% from last year. The 370 million layers consisted of 305 million layers producing table or market type eggs, 61.2 million layers producing broiler-type hatching eggs and 3.79 million layers producing egg-type hatching eggs. Rate of lay per day on July 1 averaged 79.1 eggs per 100 layers, up 1% from July 1, 2023.
Egg-type chicks hatched during June totaled 56.7 million, down 3% from June 2023. Eggs in incubators totaled 53.6 million on July 1, up 8% from a year ago.
Domestic placements of egg-type pullet chicks for future hatchery supply flocks by leading breeders totaled 219,000 during June, up 10% from June 2023.
Broiler-type chicks hatched during June totaled 833 million, up slightly from June 2023. Eggs in incubators totaled 736 million on July 1, up 2% from a year ago.
