The WIAA has released a second proposal for conference realignment in northeastern Wisconsin, revising a plan released to schools in April.
The new plan has the Bay Conference dropping from 10 teams to eight teams, while the Eastern Valley Conference expands from eight teams to 10.
Oconto Falls, which was moved from the Bay to the Eastern Valley in the April proposal, will be joined by current Bay teams Marinette and Luxemburg-Casco. The revised plan also moves current Bay team Denmark from the Eastern Wisconsin Conference to the Eastern Valley. Hortonville will move from the Bay to the Fox Valley Association.
Under both plans Shawano, West De Pere, New London and Seymour remain in the Bay. The new Bay Conference will add Green Bay East and Green Bay West from the Fox River Classic Conference, Menasha from the Fox Valley Association and Appleton Xavier from the Eastern Valley.
Under both proposals Shawano would remain the fourth largest school in the Bay with an enrollment of 830. Green Bay East would be the largest school with an enrollment of 1,267.
The new proposal would make Xavier the smallest school in the Bay with an enrollment of 604.
Luxemburg-Casco, with an enrollment of 579, was the smallest school in the Bay in the April proposal, but would become the third largest school in the new Eastern Valley.
Clintonville, with an enrollment of 467, would become second smallest school in the Eastern Valley under both proposals, larger than only Wrightstown with an enrollment of 455.
Athletic directors and WIAA will discussed the proposed changes Sept. 25 at Fox Valley Lutheran High School.
