Vivien Lea Hoffmann, 71, of the town of Belle Plaine, passed away on Monday, Sept. 21, 2015, due to complications from surgery.
Vivien was born to the late Francis and Beatrice (Finch) Lehman on Sept. 8, 1944, in Clintonville. On May 21, 1980, at St. Martin Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine, Vivien was united in marriage to Dennis Wayne Hoffmann. The couple made their home in the Shawano area on Snuggle Valley Farm. Over their 35 years together, they made many wonderful memories with their children and grandchildren. Dennis preceded her in death in March of this year.
Vivien and Dennis were best friends, they enjoyed doing everything together. When you saw one of them, you saw the other. Together, they were retired dairy farmers, and Vivien recently assumed the role of the constable of Belle Plaine, a role Dennis held for 22 years. Vivien worked for several years as a blackjack dealer as she always thought it would be fun and because she was so quick with math. She eventually grew to be known as the dealer who could stop a winning streak (and at times would get called in to do just that.)
Vivien was a very talented and generous woman. She was a gardener and loved spending time outdoors. Her flowers were always so beautiful, and they could be admired from far away as they were vast and glorious. She was an avid hunter and often was the first person in the family to get a deer (which she would quietly celebrate.) She had an amazing talent for crocheting and knitting, making her family many beautiful heirlooms to cherish.
We could not have asked for a better mother or grandmother or great-grandmother. We will miss her more than words can ever express.
Vivien is survived by her four sons, Bennett (Jennifer), Brent (Anna), Brad (Jenn) Hoffmann and Mark (Mary) Wittstock; two daughters, Brandi (George) Lenzner and Christy (Steve) Wallace; 13 grandchildren, Riley, Alex (Mandy), Mariah, Brady, Adriana, Billy, Ryan, Kim, Olivia, Keley, Leah, Conley and Jennifer; three great-grandchildren, Trenton, Nicko and Idella; sisters, Vonnie (Jon) Steffens, Virginia Hilley, Connie (Don) Schinke and Dodie (Roger) VandeCorput; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis; her parents, Francis Lehman and Beatrice Huebner; and siblings, Valencia, Victoria and Mark.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 25, 2015, at St. Martin Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine with the Rev. Kurt Kluge officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
Swedberg Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
When tomorrow starts without me, don’t think we’re far apart, for every time you think of me, I’m right there inside your heart.
