Virgie Brusky, 83, Pulaski, passed away peacefully and surrounded by her family Monday evening, Jan. 4, 2016, at a Green Bay hospital following a short illness. The daughter of Anton and Julia (Murdzek) Brzeczkowski was born on Dec. 29, 1932, in Sobieski. On Sept. 8, 1951, she married Raymond Brusky at Assumption B.V.M. Church in Pulaski. The couple raised their family in the town of Lessor.
Virg was devoted to her family and worked hard on the family farm. She was a member of St. Stanislaus Parish in Hofa Park, where she had belonged to the Altar Rosary Society. Virgie was also very active with the annual Hofa Park church picnic, and especially with the “Cherry Tree.” When her children were young she was a leader in 4-H. She continued to exhibit at the Shawano County Fair for many years. Virgie enjoyed gardening, sewing, visiting the casino, playing cards and watching the birds.
Survivors include her husband, Ray; five children, Michael (Bill Gray) Brusky, Minneapolis, Minnesota, Patrick (Jolene) Brusky, Pulaski, Douglas (Pattie) Brusky, Oneida, Karen Tauscher, Sobieski, and William Brusky, West Bend; 12 grandchildren, Katie, Tara, Alexa and Angie, Stephanie, Daniel, Michael and Noah, Nikki and Jamie, and Brooke and Joshua; seven great-grandchildren, Mason, Kennedy and Hailey, Eli, Zoe, Josie and Amelia; two sisters-in-law, Maxine (Richard) Westein, Crivitz, and Jan Brusky, Milwaukee; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Frank (Jean) Brzeczkowski, Stanley (Edna) Brzeczkowski, Joseph (Helen) Brzeczkowski, and Felix Brzeczkowski; two brothers-in-law, Vernon Brusky and Jim Brusky; five sisters and five brothers-in-law, Ceil (Jake) Gracyalny, Martha (Clarence) De Mars, Sr. Jean Brzeczkowski, SSJ-TOSF, Rose (Henry) Ryczkowski, Betty (Julius) Ryczkowski and Stanley Matczak.
Friends may call at Marnocha Funeral Home, Pulaski, from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, with a closing prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation continues after 10 a.m. Friday at Assumption B.V.M. Church, 119 E. Pulaski St., Pulaski. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at the church, with the Rev. Patrick Gawrylewski, O.F.M., presiding. Entombment will take place in Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum.
