Ordination and installation of Dean Suehring into the Office of the Holy Ministry will be celebrated at 3 p.m. Sunday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in the town of Grant.
Suehring will serve as pastor of Immanuel Lutheran and St. John Lutheran.
Suehring is a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran, where he has served as their organist for the past 15 years, as well as elder and Sunday school teacher. Dean and his wife, Megan, were married in 2008 and have two sons, Jacob, 5, and Andrew, 3.
In fall 2013, Dean entered the Specific Ministry Pastor Program at Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to accept a call to serve as the pastor at Immanuel and St. John.
The Specific Ministry Program is a four-year alternative route of pastoral formation offered by the seminaries of The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. SMP classes included weeklong intensive courses at the seminary each fall and online classes during the remainder of the year.
At the conclusion of his second year, in October 2015, Dean passed his theological interview and was certified to receive the call to Immanuel and St. John.
After Sunday’s service, the women of both congregations will provide a lunch for all who wish to attend. Immanuel Lutheran is located 3 miles east of Caroline on County Road M.
