Terry Jones

Terry Lynn Jones (Mehlhorn), 63, of the Town of Belle Plaine, lost her over seven-year battle with multiple cancers on Oct. 12, 2024, in her home surrounded by her family. She was born on Sept. 25, 1961, the eldest daughter of Cecil (Uttendorfer) and the late Lavellen Mehlhorn in Shawano. Terry helped her family on the farm during most of her childhood. She attended Shawano High School and later graduated from Northeast Wisconsin Technical College with an associate’s degree in nursing in 2014. Terry enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on Sept. 18, 1979, as an advanced automotive mechanic (3522). She was honorably discharged on Dec. 12, 1980, when she became pregnant with her oldest child. Terry lived an exciting life traveling the world as a diplomat with her husband, Gregg A. Jones, and their three children, Craig, Megan and Lynne. The couple later divorced, and she and her children moved back home to Shawano in 1996. Terry purchased the original Mehlhorn homestead in 2001 and resided there until her passing. Most people who knew Terry would tell you she is woman that was hard to describe in words. She was blunt, opinionated and stubborn. To be honest, you would think her sheer stubbornness and determination is the reason she fought so hard throughout her many cancer treatments, because nothing or no one was ever going to ever tell Momma Jones what she was going to do. She lived life on her own terms. Terry also was a woman who had a passion for horses and motorcycle rides. Most of all she loved her family, especially her grandchildren. Terry is survived by her mother, Cecil (Uttendorfer) Mehlhorn; her son, Craig (Michelle) Jones; daughters, Megan Jones and Lynne (Jon) Davis; grandchildren, Brady, Emma, Cody, Chase and Alex; and siblings, Charles (Kim) Mehlhorn, Elizabeth (Richard) Wold, Andrew Mehlhorn. She was preceded in death by her father, Lavellen Mehlhorn. The Jones family would like to thank Unity Hospice of De Pere for their excellent care during this time. Terry’s life will be honored with a celebration of life on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2024, from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m., at the Jones residence, W8855 County Road M, Shawano, WI 54166. She will be laid to rest at St. Paul Stoney Hill Lutheran Church Cemetery in Shawano. Huehns Funeral Home, Inc. and Cremation Services in Sturgeon Bay is assisting the Jones family.
