Students at Olga Brener Intermediate School collected hundreds of food items during their December Traveling Trophy Challenge.
Each month, the school’s students compete against each other in a challenge with a winner declared at each grade level.
The winning classroom gets to display the trophy for a month, and students receive an extra recess while the teacher receives an extra break.
December’s challenge is always a food drive. This year, the food was donated to the Shawano Area Food Pantry and Resource Center (SAFPARC).
The winning classrooms and the total items collected were Judielynn Bauer’s third-grade class, 114 items; Courtney Carlson’s fourth-grade class with 223 items; and Jennifer Sperberg’s fifth-grade class with 356 items.
