Shawano County to lift road weight restrictions

Spring weight restrictions will be removed on Shawano County trunk highways beginning April 16, officials announced. Seasonal weight limits were put in place March 10. They remain in effect the next few days. The weight restrictions are 6 tons for a single axle, 10 tons for a tandem axle and a maximum gross weight of 26 tons. Seasonal weight restrictions are placed on specific highways during the spring thaw period. The restrictions are placed to prevent damage to the pavement structure and extend the life of the pavement.
