Bay Conference Meet
Led by strong performances from seniors Will Chelberg, Ethan Onesti and Drake Herm, the Shawano boys track team placed second at the Bay Conference Championship Meet at West De Pere.
“These guys really came through for us today and turned in some really clutch performances as individuals and as key pieces of our relays,” said coach Joe Guenther. The Shawano girls were led to a third-place team finish by a performance from senior Hatty Fritz, who won the girls shot put and took second in the discus.
“Our throwers on the girls side had a great day and helped keep our team competitive,” Guenther said.
Finishing first and receiving first team all-conference honors were Herm, pole vault; Will Chelberg, 1,600-meter and 3,200-meter runs; Onesti, 800-meter run; and the 4x800-meter relay team of Will Chelberg, Onesti, Andon Chelberg and Trevor Schwartz.
Placing second and earning second team all-conference honors were Onesti in the 1,600 and 4x400 team of Connor Chelberg, Herm, Maverick Theis and Ryan Schwitzer. For the girls, finishing first and receiving first team all-conference honors was Fritz in the shot put. Placing second and earning second team all-conference honors were Grace Chelberg, 1,600; Lily Guenther, 3,200; Adalyn Barkley, triple jump; Fritz, discus; and the 4x800 team of Guenther, Bailey Hendricks, Barkley and Maci Beyer.
Third-place finishers, who earned all-conference honorable mention honors, were Madisyn Weinig, discus and shot put; Tela Hopfensperger, 300 hurdles; and the 4x200 team of Natalie Bystol, Onna Hermann, Hopfensperger and Beyer. The WIAA Division 1 regionals will be held May 20 at D.C. Everest.
CWC Large Conference Meet
Wittenberg-Birnamwood’s girls captured gold medals and the Bonduel’s boys team grabbed one at Rosholt.
Charger girls earning gold medals were Faith Resch in the 100-meter hurdles, the 300 hurdles, high jump and triple jump; and the 4x800 relay team.
Silver medals were won by Kylee Beversdorf in the 800, Nora Bushman in the 1,600 and the 3,200, and the 4x400 relay team.
Getting a bronze medal was Harper Rogowski in the 400-meter dash.
The boys were led by Landen Schmidt, who placed fifth in the discus and shot put.
Bonduel’s Ryan Westrich took first place in the shot put and second in the discus.
Samuel Roberts was second in the triple jump, and the 4x400 relay team was third.
For the girls, the 4x800 relay team placed second.
Finishing third were Mariah Wondra in the 1,600 and 3,200, the 4x100 relay team, the 4x200 relay team and Ashlyn Kurey in the triple jump.
Menominee Indian’s boys were paced by Barron Waupoose, third in the 200-meter and 400-meter dashes.
For the girls, Alexis Zhuckkahosee was fourth in the high jump.

NEC Championships
Oconto Falls High School’s boys and girls each placed sixth at Luxemburg-Casco High School. The boys scored 60 points, while the girls collected 52.
The event began with the Panther girls taking third in the 4x800. Runners were Brynn Hodkiewicz, Hannah Ludemann, Maddy Przybylski and Ava Hodkiewicz.
The boys 4x800 team of Griffin Kopke, Brant Laluzerne, Sage Mendolla and Emerson Rice placed second.
Rylie Shallow captured second in the girls 100.
The boys 4x200 team of Elijah White, Evan Yuma, Brady Bursa and Isaac Bramer placed second. The same four took second in the 4x100.
In the boys discus, Bryce Schefdore took second. He was also second in the shot put.
M&O Conference
Lena/St. Thomas Aquinas Academy’s boys and girls won 11 first-place awards at the M&O Conference meet at Suring. Gillett and Suring teams each earned four gold medals.
The Lena/STAA girls team was led by the teams in the 4x200, 4x400 and 4x800 relays, all with first-place finishes. Eva Brooks won the high jump and the triple jump. Alabama Lambert won the long jump, Whitney Potter won the discus, and Mackenzie Vorpahl captured the gold in the shot put.
First-place honors for the boys went to Zander Thomson in the high jump, Lucas Heinke in the triple jump and Anthony Seefeldt in the shot put.
Taking second for the girls team were Madilyn Thomson in the 200, Kali Fischer in the 300 hurdles, Abby Kostreva in the long jump and Della Kostreva in the triple jump.
Earning third for the girls were Kali Fischer and Brooks, who tied in the 100 hurdles, the 4x100 relay team and Kali Fischer in the triple jump.
Boys earning second place were Thomson in the 110 hurdles and Heinke in the long jump.
Taking third for the boys were Thomson in the 300 hurdles and the 4x400 relay team.
Winning the gold for Gillett girls was Hope Soper in the 800. For the boys, it was Bradyn Wendorff in the 800 and the 3,200, as well as the 4x800 relay team.
Second place was won by Sophia Limberg in the girls 3,200, Soper in the girls 100 hurdles and Tyler Slatky in the boys discus.
Bronze medals were earned by Limberg in the girls 1,600, the 4x400 girls relay team and Audrey Pate in the girls discus.
CWC Small Conference Meet
Gresham/Bowler athletes earned four gold medals and a Marion athlete earned one at Tri-County High School in Plainfield.
All of Gresham/Bowler’s gold medals came from the girls. The 4x100 and 4x200 relay teams each captured the top spot, as did Isabella Stevens in the high jump and shot put.
Jemy Reedy earned a silver medal in the 100, as did the 4x800 relay team.
Allie Cerveny took third in the 300 hurdles, along with the 4x400 relay team and Emily Jensen in the shot put.
For the boys, the 4x100 relay team won silver.
Bronze medals were earned by Bryson Nelson in the 1,600 and the 4x200 relay team.
Marion’s Landon Marquardt won the 110 hurdles for the boys.
Tristan Herro was second in the high jump and the triple jump.
The girls 4x400 relay team earned silver, as did Presley Stewart-Rolfs in the high jump.
Stewart-Rolfs placed third in the discus, and Bridget Much was third in the 100 hurdles.
