Sectionals at Hudson
Two relay teams and five individuals will represent Shawano at the state Division 1 track meet May 31 at UW-La Crosse.
At the sectional meet in Hudson, the girls 4x800 and 4x400 relay teams each won the gold.
The 4x800 team of Bailey Hendricks, Adalyn Barkley, Lily Guenther and Grace Chelberg set a new school record of 9:38.95.
The 4x400 team of Maci Beyer, Chelberg, Tela Hopfensperger and Barkley also set a new school record at 4:03.12.
Placing second were Will Chelberg in the 3,200, Lily Guenther in the 3,200 and Barkley in the 400 and triple jump. In the triple jump, Barkley set a new school record of 36 feet, 4 inches. Third place was earned by Grace Chelberg in the 800 and Meyer in the high jump.
As a team, the girls placed fifth and the boys were 11th.
Sectionals at De Pere
Three Pulaski girls earned gold medals and several others will join them at the state track meet after posting top times at sectionals.
Emerson Fabry won gold in the 800, and Olivia Sprangers finished in first in the 200. Hallie Morz captured the top spot in the pole vault.
Ella Hasser, Rachael Allen, Fabry and Lily Urben placed second in the 4x400 relay.
Sprangers placed third in the 100.
In the 4x200, Pulaski’s Addison Krueger, Urben, Faye Brunke and Sprangers placed third.
Urben was third in the 300 hurdles.
Olivia Stedl was fourth in the 1,600. Hasser was fourth in the 400.
For the boys, Madden Skenadore placed third in the 110 hurdles. Dylan Dorn was third in the high jump.
Brody Zeinert claimed fourth place in the 400.
Pulaski’s girls finished in second place as a team, while the boys were tied for ninth.
Sectionals at Rosholt
Three Bonduel athletes will advance to the state track meet after placing in the top four in their events at sectionals.
Ryan Westrich took fourth in shot put with a throw of 49-3.5.
Mariah Wondra advances in two events. She placed fourth in the 3,200 with a time of 11:50.87 and placed second in the 1,600 with a time of 5:20.88, another personal record and school record.
Ashlyn Kurey advanced in the triple jump with a jump of 33-06 to secure fourth place.
There were notable performances and personal records by other teammates, coach Diane Schnell said.
Sam Roberts jumped 41-11.25 in the triple jump, placing seventh. Ashlyn Kurey, Wondra, Cierra Schnell and Teagan Engel broke the school record again with a 4x800 time of 10:07.68, placing fifth.
Ben O’Brien had a personal best in the 3,200 with a time of 10:23:05, placing sixth.
Griffin Uelmen, Gage Scholl, Sam Roberts and Westrich ran a 3:34.87 4x400 relay that placed seventh.
Paige Niquette ran a new personal best in the 200 with a time of 27.66. Cierra Schnell ran a 50.99 300 hurdles, placing her sixth, and Uelmen jumped for a new personal record of 6-00 in the high jump, placing him in a tie for fourth broken by the tiebreaker that moved him to seventh.
“Great competition brings out the best in our athletes,” coach Schnell said.”We are proud of them all and these fantastic performances.”
Three athletes from Lena/St. Thomas Aquinas Academy will also compete in La Crosse.
Eva Brooks won the sectional title in the high jump.
Zander Thomson won the high jump, and Anthony Seefeldt placed third in the shot put.
Gillett will be represented at the state meet by Bradyn Wendorff, who placed fourth in the 800.
Trent VanDenElzen placed third in the pole vault and will be the sole competitor from Suring.
No athletes from Gresham/Bowler advanced to the state meet. Marion’s Presley Stewart-Rolfs did not advance, and neither did Wolf River Lutheran’s Violet Buchholz.
Sectionals at Colby
Oconto Falls’ Rylie Shallow placed third in the 100 and will run in La Crosse.
Also taking third was the 4x100 team of Anna Spaulding, Abby Budz, Gracie Miller and Shallow.
The 4x200 team of Ashlyn Vandermoss, Budz, Hailyn St. Louis and Shallow placed fourth.
Although they did not advance, the boys 4x100 and 4x200 relay teams set new school records.
Wittenberg-Birnamwood’s Faith Resch will compete at state in three events.
At sectionals, she won the triple jump and placed second in the long jump and the 300 hurdles.
Neither athlete from Menominee Indian High School advanced.
