A rural Shawano man has been charged with the sexual assault of two children, including the repeated assault of an autistic 8-year-old girl.
Douglas S. Reynolds, 51, faces felony counts of first-degree sexual assault of a child under the age of 12 and first-degree sexual contact with a child under the age of 13.
If convicted, Reynolds could face a maximum 60 years in prison on each count. The first count also carries a minimum of 25 years in prison before he could be eligible for parole.
The criminal complaint alleges Reynolds had sexual intercourse with the 8-year-old on three occasions. It also alleges he had sexual contact with an 11-year-old girl. The alleged incidents would have occurred in August and September in the town of Wescott, according to the complaint.
According to court records, Reynolds was previously convicted in Marathon County of causing a child under the age of 13 to view or listen to sexual activity and exposing a child to harmful material.
He was sentenced to prison in December 1999 and was released in October 2004, according to court records, and is required to register as a sex offender with the state Sex Offender Registry.
He was ordered held on a $25,000 cash bond after an initial appearance Monday before Shawano-Menominee County Circuit Court Judge James Habeck.
Reynolds is scheduled for an adjourned initial appearance Monday.
