Children and adults will have the chance to crawl into the seat of a crane, backhoe or digger during a special event celebrating the groundbreaking for the new ThedaCare Medical Center-Shawano.
The Big Dig will be held from 12:30-3 p.m. July 11 at the site of the new medical center, adjacent to the ThedaCare Physicians-Shawano clinic at County Road B and state Highway 22.
“We want to include our friends and neighbors in a memorable and fun way,” said Dorothy Erdmann, CEO of Shawano Medical Center. “Together we will celebrate the beginning of building a new medical center for our community that will serve us for the next 80 years.”
The new facility will replace the existing Shawano Medical Center and is slated to open in 2015.
The Big Dig begins with a welcome and presentation, followed by free gifts and the chance to do some digging.
With construction under way, attendees are asked to park at Shawano Community High School, 220 County Road B. A shuttle will transport people from the parking lot to the Big Dig site.
Pre-registration for The Big Dig is highly recommended by calling 920-830-5922 or visiting www.thedacare.org/classes (click on Search for Classes, then Big Dig Celebration).
