Red Arrow will host its ninth annual corn roast and ATV parade Sept. 5 at Barb’s Valley Inn in Townsend. Barb’s Valley Inn, 18904 State Highway 32, Townsend, is the bar with the snowmobile and ATV on the roof.
The event begins at 11 a.m. and is open to the public. Free sweet corn will be available all day, and there will be meat raffles, music and food. The activities, under cover of a big tent, will take place rain or shine. An autographed Packers football and other prizes will be raffled off, with winners chosen at 6 p.m.
The ATV/UTV parade will form at 9:30 a.m. on the Nicolet Trail across from Townsend Shell. Riders will parade to Barb’s Valley Inn starting at 10:30 a.m. All ATV and UTV owners are invited to participate. Individuals do not need to belong to a club to participate. Organizers hope to again break the Oconto County record for the most ATVs and UTVs in a parade.
Jim Weyers, parade marshal, is one of a handful of people who started the drive to allow ATV/UTV usage in the Townsend-Lakewood area about 10 years ago.
All proceeds from this event will be used to maintain and improve the snowmobile and ATV trails in the Townsend area. Red Arrow is responsible for about 65 miles of snowmobile trails and about 15 miles of ATV/UTV trails including the Nicolet State Recreational Trail through Townsend.
