Pulaski will celebrate Casimir Pulaski Week with a street dedication, contests, sales and plenty of polka music from March 7-13.
Pulaski is named in honor of Casimir Pulaski, a Polish nobleman and military commander who played a key role in the Americans’ victory in the Revolutionary War.
On March 7, the village will dedicate Casimir Street with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Other activities include a coloring contest, window decorating contest, scavenger hunt, open houses, and business sales and promotions.
Smurawa’s Country Bakery will mark Casimir Paczki Day on March 9 with live music throughout the day. The Pulaski Museum will be open from 5-7 p.m.
On March 12, the Maroszek Bros., Chad Przybylski’s Polka Rhythms and Polka Dynamics will perform at a dance at the historic Zielinski’s Ballroom. Admission is $10 a person; kids under 16 get in for free. Polish sausage and souvenirs will be available.
The celebration ends March 13 with a Polka Mass, with music by the Maroszek Brothers, at ABVM Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m., followed by a potluck dinner at the church.
