Primaries needed in Clintonville school, council races

Primary elections will be needed Feb. 16 for two races in the spring election in Clintonville. Five candidates have entered the race for two seats on the Clintonville Board of Education. Voters will narrow the field of candidates to four in the primary. Incumbent Dirk Weber will be challenged by Mark Zachow, Samantha Ozment and Larry Czarnecki, all of Clintonville, and Lori Poppe, of Bear Creek. Board members serve three-year terms. Judith Magee did not seek re-election. A spring primary also will be needed in the District 4 aldermanic race in Clintonville. Incumbent Mary Beth Kuester is being challenged by political newcomer Tim Zilch and former Alderman Mike Hankins. The top two finalists will advance to the April 5 spring election. Other races on the April 5 election will be District 4 Alderperson Lois Bressette running for the mayor seat vacated by Magee, who resigned Jan. 1, against Jonathan Bayless; incumbent Jim Krause vs. Lance Bagstad in District 2; incumbent Gloria Dunlavy vs. Chuck Manske in District 2; and incumbent Jeannie Schley vs. former Alderman Mark Doornink in District 5. Incumbent Amy Steenbock is running unopposed in District 3.
