Panthers defeated in New London The Oconto Falls High School football team lost to New London 28-14 Friday in New London. Tyler Kowalcyzyk scored a 12-yard touchdown to in the second quarter for Oconto Falls (0-6, 0-6 Bay) to tie the game at 7-7. New London (1-6, 1-5 Bay) then scored 21 straight points before quarterback Alex Johnson found Zachary Brye for a 29-yard touchdown to cut New London’s lead to 28-14 in the fourth quarter. Suring blown out by Coleman The Suring High School football team lost to Marinette & Oconto Conference foe Coleman 58-0 Friday in Coleman. Quarterback Creo VanBellinger was held to one completion on seven passing attempts for 10 yards and two interceptions for Suring (2-5, 1-4 M&O). Bob Mahoney had 63 yards on three carries. Trevor Seewald had 190 yards rushing on 11 carries for Coleman (5-2, 4-1 M&O). Gillett splits in Coleman The Gillett Secondary School volleyball team split a triangular meet Thursday in Coleman. Gillett (2-6 M&O) beat Lena 25-13, 25-14, 25-17, but lost to Coleman (4-0 M&O) 25-4, 25-10, 25-18. Gillett’s Brianna Lemirande had 11 kills, two blocks and six aces. Jessica Anderson had 19 assists. Myranda Pratsch had 18 digs. Suring beats Gillett in 4 The Suring High School volleyball team beat Gillet in four games Oct. 1 in Suring. Suring (2-1 M&O) beat Gillett (2-6 M&O) 25-20 in the first game. Gillett won 25-19 in the second and Suring won 25-22, 25-16 in the next two games. Calley VanBellinger had eight kills, two blocks, two aces and 10 digs for Suring. Kelsey School had 10 digs, two assists, one block and an ace. Breanna Tienor had seven assists, six digs. Gillett’s Brianna Lemirande had 11 kills, one block, seven digs and five aces. Jessica Anderson had 24 assists, six digs and eight aces. Myranda Pratsch had 15 digs.
