Bowler falls to Suring
The No. 4-seeded Bowler High School volleyball team lost to top-seeded Suring 3-0 Thursday in the WIAA Division 2 regional semifinal in Suring.
Bowler lost 25-17, 25-16, 25-10.
Suring will face Gillett on Saturday in Suring.
Chargers advance in 5
The No. 3 seeded Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School volleyball team advanced to the WIAA Division 2 regional final with a 3-2 win over No. 2-seed Mosinee on Thursday in Mosinee.
The Chargers won the first two sets, 25-15, 25-22, before dropping two, 25-17, 25-21. In the tie-breaking fifth set, Wittenberg-Birnamwood refused to be denied, winning 15-9.
Micah Nier led Wittenberg-Birnamwood with 18 kills, three aces and 20 digs. Taylor Nier had 12 kills and 18 digs. Madison Bushman had 40 assists.
The Chargers will face top-seeded Tomahawk at 7 p.m. Saturday in Tomahawk.
