Parker rolls to Late Model win

Paul Parker had to sweat out a couple of late-race cautions before taking home the Late Model feature at Shawano Speedway on Saturday night. Also, Jerry Wilinski won the IMCA Modified feature, and Brandon Czarapata won another IMCA Stock Car feature. Cody Hudson won his second straight IMCA Northern SportMod feature, and Jasper Drengler won in the Mighty 4s. Parker used his front-row starting spot to jump out to the quick lead over Joe Reuter, Justin Ritchie, Doug Blashe and Joel Bennett in the Late Model feature. Ron Berna joined the top five on the next lap and began working his way to the front. With Parker having a small lead over the field, Berna moved to the second spot on lap four. Berna began closing the gap on Parker and caught him just past the halfway point of the race. Just as Berna was sizing up Parker in an attempt to take the lead, the caution flag waved. Parker had a strong restart to maintain his lead. Another caution came out a couple of laps later. Parker once again had a strong restart, with Nick Anvelink moving into the second spot. Parker led the rest of the way to take the win over Anvelink, Berna, Ritchie and Reuter. IMCA Modified In the IMCA Modified feature, John Berna claimed the early lead over Tony Wedelstadt, Matt Oreskovich, Wilinski and Eddie Muenster. Wilinski moved to third on the next lap and to the runner-up spot on lap seven. Wilinski began reeling in Berna over the next few laps when the only caution in the race came out. Wilinski moved to the lead on the restart with Jason Czarapata, Berna, Brad Rohloff and Wedelstadt following. Muenster grabbed the fifth spot with five laps to go. That’s the way it ended with Wilinski taking the win. IMCA Stock Car Brandon Czarapata, who has dominated the division this year, wasted no time finding his way to the lead pack as he found himself in the second spot at the end of lap two. He didn’t make much progress for a few laps on gaining on Justin Jacobsen, who was leading the race. That changed just before the halfway point of the race when Czarapata cut the gap and pulled alongside Jacobsen. The two raced side-by-side for three laps before Czarapata took control of the lead. Once out front, Czarapata pulled out to a comfortable lead over Jacobsen, while Rod Snellenberger, Mitch Stankowski and Dan Michonski battle for third. There was no denying Czarapata as he cruised to the win. IMCA Northern SportMod Lucas Lamberies took the early lead over Jordan Bartz, Wyatt Block, Jason Jach and Cody Hokenstad in the IMCA Northern SportMod feature. Lamberies led the first 14 laps of the race when a caution bunched up the field. On the restart, using the high groove, Hudson rocketed from fifth to second. Hudson drove around Lamberies on the next lap to take the lead. It was Hudson taking the win, his second in a row. He was followed by Lamberies, Taycher, Jach and Hokenstad. Mighty 4s Drengler took the lead of the Mighty 4s feature on the second lap and led the rest of the way to win the feature. He was followed by Kasey Gross, Trent Nolan, Scott Blanke and Grant Kastning.
