Doris Beatrice Bruchs, 69, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, July 11, 2013, at Appleton Medical Center with her family by her side. Doris was born Sept. 13, 1943, in Shawano, daughter of the late Lavern and Elvira (Gerbig) Richter. She was united in marriage to Ira Bruchs on April 24, 1971, in Shawano. She was a homemaker for many years and a housekeeper at AMC. Doris enjoyed reading, listening to music, gardening and baking. Most important to Doris was spending time with her four precious grandchildren and spending meaningful time in prayer. She loved her family unconditionally and she generously gave of herself to others. Doris is survived by her two daughters, Janel (Jason) Fager, Waukesha, and Kerri (John) Van Asten, Appleton; her four grandchildren, Joah and Jordan Fager, and Rachel and Nathan Van Asten; brothers and sisters, Howard (Phebe) Richter, Shawano, Marian (Fred) Pape, Shawano, Marvin (Mari) Richter, Bethlehem, Pa., Arlene (Jerry) Wilson, Marinette; two sisters-in-law, Audrey Richter and Donna Richter; and many nieces and nephews. Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Ira Bruchs, and three brothers, Lowell Richter, Gordon Richter and Roger Richter. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at Valley Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Norton officiating. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Appleton. Doris’ family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Doris’ name.
