Jo Ann Louise Teaford

Jo Ann Louise (Jo) Teaford, 66, of North Port, Fla., passed away Saturday, July 20, 2013. She was born in Two Rivers on Oct. 19, 1946, to the late Raymond and Alvilda (O’Malley) Bertler and grew up in Manitowoc. Jo attended Holy Family College, graduating in 1968 with an undergraduate degree in home economics and then attended Ohio University, graduating in 1983 with a master’s degree in home economics. Jo began working for Columbia Gas of Ohio in 1968 as a Betty Newton. On April 1, 1969, Jo married Norman Teaford in Chillicothe, Ohio. Jo was the one-time owner of a seamstress shop, worked on the 1980, 1990, and 2000 censuses, taught college at Seton Hill, Greensburg, Pa., co-owned MerJo LTD, and most recently volunteered in Kentucky and Northern Ireland. Jo enjoyed quilting, reading, traveling and spending time with friends, especially in Northern Ireland at the Corrymeela Community. She is survived by a son, Timothy Teaford, of Pierre, S.D.; a daughter, Tamara (Gregory) Williams, of Philadelphia; brothers, Raymond Bertler (Jasmin) of Fairborn, Ohio, and Richard Bertler (Rita), of Englewood, Fla.; and a sister, Sister Sarah Bertler, of Manitowoc. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman; her parents, Raymond and Alvilda (Billie) Bertler; and brother, Stephen Bertler. Friends will be received at Chiara Convent, Manitowoc, on Saturday, Oct. 19, from 9:30-11 a.m., the hour of service. Interment will occur at a later date in Palestine, Ohio.
