Gary M. Condon, 64, of Clintonville, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013, at the New London Family Medical Center.
Gary Miles Condon was born Aug. 3, 1949, in Laurium, Mich., to George and Helen (Lake) Condon. He was raised and attended school in the Crystal Falls, Mich., area. Gary entered the U.S. Marines and served in Vietnam from 1967 to 1970. After the military, he lived in California, where he owned and operated a concrete trucking business for several years. Then Gary moved to Arizona and later settled in Wisconsin. He was united in marriage on May 18, 2002, to Carla M. Watters in the town of Bear Creek, Waupaca County. Gary worked for some time in receiving at Sturm Foods, Manawa, and was also employed at Wohlt Cheese Corporation, New London.
He was a member of VFW Post 664 of Clintonville and a proud member of the military honors gun salute team. Gary is a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America Shawano County Chapter 206. His other memberships included the Clintonville Family Moose Lodge 1502.
One of Gary’s favorite pastimes was restoring a 1953 Willys Jeep to excellent condition sporting a patriotic theme. His other interests included taking care of his yard, going fishing, camping, and trips up north to their cottage.
Survivors include his wife, Carla; five children, Christopher Condon, Jimmy Condon and Krissy Condon, all of California, Kelly (Nathan) Schreiber, of Clintonville, and Chris Young, of Symco. There are five grandchildren: Hannah and Ryan Condon, and Abbey, Brady and Laney Schreiber. There are five siblings: James (Ione) Condon, of Crystal Falls, Mich., Gene Salasti, of Hayward, Francis Salasti, of Hayward, Jean (Melvin “Chum”) Beyer, of Clintonville, and Garth (Barbara) Condon, of Clintonville. He is further survived by his mother-in-law, Vera Watters, of New London; a sister-in-law, Carol (Craig) Koplin; of Bear Creek; a brother-in-law, Gary (Terry) Watters; of New London; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, George; and his father-in-law, Nile Watters.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, Aug. 30, 2013, at 7 p.m. at the Beil-Didier Funeral Home, Clintonville. Military honors will be provided by members of the VFW 664 and American Legion Post 63, both of Clintonville. Friends may call on Friday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
