Michael R. Abler, 53, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013, at his home.
He was born on March 6, 1960, in Sheboygan, the son of the late Arthur Abler and Martina (Halbach) Abler, Wittenberg. On Feb. 17, 1979, Mike was united in marriage to Wanda Brenecke in Chilton. She survives. Mike and Wanda owned and operated Northwoods Sporting and Nursery in Birnamwood. Mike loved to work on cars and race cars, to hunt and to spend time with his friends. He also enjoyed traveling out west.
Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Wanda Abler, Birnamwood; three daughters, Echo (Bryan) Nicolaus, Shawano, Emily (Josh Hurst) Abler, Aurora, Colo., and Pennie (Justin Zwirschitz) Abler, Mattoon; his mother, Martina Abler, Wittenberg; seven grandchildren; and two brothers, Steve (Sandy) Abler, Oshkosh, and Duane Abler, Florida. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
In addition to his father, Mike was preceded in death by one sister, Diane Abler, and his grandparents, Claude and Millie Halbach.
A celebration of Mike’s life will be held Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013, from 3-7 p.m. at Melody Mill, Aniwa.
