OWI-injury
Felony drunken driving charges were filed Tuesday against a Mattoon man in connection with a two-vehicle accident in July that injured four people.
Octaviano Enriquez-Genis, 30, is accused of being intoxicated when he rear-ended another vehicle on County Road D in the town of Almon on July 6.
According to the criminal complaint, a woman and three children in the other vehicle were injured.
A blood test subsequently showed Enriquez-Genis had a blood count of 0.23 percent, nearly three times the legal limit, according to the complaint.
Enriquez-Genis was charged with four counts of operating while intoxicated-causing injury and four counts of operating with a prohibited alcohol concentration-causing injury. Each count carries a penalty of anywhere from 60 days to two years imprisonment and a fine of $600 to $4,000.
Enriquez-Genis is being held on a $5,000 cash bond and is scheduled for a pre-trial conference Sept. 24.
Aggravated battery
A Birnamwood man is facing a felony charge of aggravated battery for allegedly striking a 62-year-old man at the Cady Home in the village on Sunday.
Lyle J. Wilber, 40, could face a maximum six years in prison and $10,000 fine if convicted of aggravated battery to an elderly person for allegedly striking a fellow resident at the home in the face. The victim sustained a swollen black-and-blue eye, according to the complaint.
Wilber posted a $500 cash bond and is due back in court for an adjourned initial appearance on Sept. 16.
Reckless injury
A Birnamwood man was charged last week with two felony counts of second-degree reckless injury connected to an accident in the town of Wittenberg in May.
Brandon L. Trinko, 22, is accused of being the driver of a vehicle that crashed in a ditch on County Road Q on May 12, seriously injuring two passengers.
According to the criminal complaint, Trinko was on probation at the time and admitted to having been drinking before the crash.
Trinko is due in court for an initial appearance Sept. 30. He could face a maximum 12½ years in prison and a $25,000 fine on each count if convicted.
Strangulation
A Clintonville man is facing a felony charge of strangulation and suffocation after an alleged domestic incident in the town of Belle Plaine last month.
Jeremy T. Kazynski, 31, is accused of choking a woman during an altercation on Aug. 26. Kazynski could face a maximum six years in prison and $10,000 fine if convicted. He is also charged with misdemeanor counts of domestic abuse-related disorderly conduct and battery.
Kazynski is free on a $1,000 signature bond and is due back in court for an adjourned initial appearance on Sept. 30.
Auto theft
A Hortonville man has been charged with auto theft for allegedly stealing a vehicle in Shawano in July.
Jeffery J. Wagner, 40, could face a maximum 3½ years in prison and a $10,000 fine if convicted.
According to the criminal complaint, Wagner was driving another car that ran out of gas on July 13. He then located a vehicle with the key in the ignition and allegedly drove it to the Kwik Trip, where he filled up a gas can for the other car. He then drove the stolen vehicle to the spot where he ran out of gas and left it there, according to the criminal complaint.
Wagner is due in court for his initial appearance on Sept. 16.
