Hawks downed in Seymour
The Shawano Community High School volleyball team pushed Bay Conference foe Seymour to five sets before losing on Tuesday in Seymour.
The Hawks (1-3 Bay) won the first game 25-23, lost the next two to Seymour (2-2 Bay) 25-16, 25-19. Shawano won the next game 25-21, but lost the tie-breaker 15-5.
Peyton Going and Erika Dunnam led with eight kills each. Dunnam had three aces. Bella Gonzalez had six blocks and six kills. Haley Going had 23 digs. Madison McBride had 17 assists.
Bonduel girls lose in five
The Bonduel High School volleyball team lost 3-2 to Shiocton in a Central Wisconsin Conference-8 match Tuesday in Shiocton.
The Bears (2-4 CWC-8) won the first two games 25-17, 26-24, before losing the next three 25-18, 25-12, 15-6 to Shiocton (4-2 CWC-8)
Bonduel’s Courtney Schmidt had 14 assists. Jenni Dowden had 25 digs, 10 blocks and 18 kills.
Olson has 6 goals in Wildcats victory
The Gresham/Bowler high school boys soccer team beat Tri-County 9-4 in a match Tuesday in Gresham.
Austin Olson led the scoring for Gresham/Bowler (9-5) with six goals and two assists. Scott Cerveny knocked in two goals and had two assists. Drew Payne had a goal, and Walker Miller had an assist.
Neil Cerveny had two saves playing in Gresham/Bowler’s goal in the first half of the match. Miller had a save in the second half.
/Bowler wins Antigo tourney
The Gresham/Bowler soccer team went 3-0 Saturday at a tournament in Antigo.
The Wildcats beat Three Lakes 2-1, Peshtigo 5-2 and Antigo 7-0.
Gresham/Bowler’s Drew Payne and Austin Olson had four goals each on the day. Walker Miller had three goals, while Kalen Fischer knocked in two goals. Levi Ludvigsen also had a goal.
Neil Cerveny had nine saves tending the Wildcats’ goal.
Gresham sweeps Marion
The Gresham High School volleyball team swept Central Wisconsin Conference-10 foe Marion 3-0 in a match Tuesday in Gresham.
Gresham (2-5 CWC-10) beat Marion (1-6 CWC-10) 25-21, 25-19, 25-19.
Katelyn Fergeson had 15 points to lead the Wildcats. Taylor Hoffman had nine assists. Tylena Bohl had six kills and Brianna Stehberger had six girls.
Chargers sweep Manawa
The Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School volleyball team swept Manawa 3-0 in a Central Wisconsin Conference-8 match Tuesday in Wittenberg.
Wittenberg-Birnamwood (6-0) beat Manawa (1-5) 25-18, 27-25, 25-15.
Wittenberg-Birnamwood’s Taylor Bushman had 12 kills and nine digs. Micah Nier had 11 kills and 10 digs. Taylor Nier had 15 digs, five kills and four aces. Hannah Buntrock had seven kills. Madison Bushman had 33 assists.
